Dr. Sara J. Gotwalt was born in 1978, to her father Dr. John T. Gotwalt & her mother Christine McCarney, a physical therapist. Growing up she split her time between Schaefferstown & Camp Hill.
Dr. Sara joined her father and our team in August 2009. Sara graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 2000 with a degree in biology. She then graduated from the University Of Pittsburgh Dental Hygiene School in 2004. Excited with dentistry, she then continued her education at the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Dental Medicine and obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2008. After graduation she completed a one year general practice residency at the Veteran’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Like her father, Dr. Sara takes great pride in all the continuing education that she attends. She started learning the importance and value of continuing education as a second year dental student when her father would take her along to his classes, to help her get a head start. She is surrounding herself with the people that have the same enthusiasm for learning life and dentistry as she does, and her father has been one of her biggest supporters and helpers.
Sara lives in Downingtown with her husband Jason, hoping to relocate to the Lititz area sometime in the near future. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading, anything relating to the outdoors, traveling and spending time with friends and family. She has two cats, Amos & Sophie, which seem to rule the roost.
Continuing Education
Dr. Sara is an active member of the Dawson Academy, where she is completing an intense curriculum that focuses on comprehensive dentistry. She is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, Pennsylvania AGD, American Dental Association, and the Pennsylvania Dental Association and the Lancaster County Dental Society. She received her fellowship with the AGD in 2014 and is currently and avidly working on obtaining her mastership which requires an additional 1000 hours of lecture and participation courses across all disciplines of dentistry. Dr. Sara belongs to multiple study clubs, including but not limited to, PEAK, R.V. Tucker Gold Study Club, ADISC (Advanced Dental Implant Study Club), and L.D. Pankey study club (APPI).
Comprehensive care is the very definition of who we are in our practice. We try to treat everyone firstly, as a person, not just teeth. We believe that dentistry is a study of the masticatory system, which is the head and neck and just so happens to include the teeth as well. The masticatory system is influenced by so many other systems in your body as well. We put so much time and effort into our continuing education so that we may help to serve you in the best possible way. We are here because of you and you are always who will come first.
